The London School of Painting and Drawing offers one drawing class per week. The venue at the Maria Assumpta Centre is warm and friendly and as a result the atmosphere in the class is always relaxed and creative. TUESDAYS, 7-9 pm (incorporating the Thursday Class) Tutors: Andy Pankhurst and Tom Davies The life class is suitable for artists of all experience levels - from the complete beginner, right through to practicing artists and including students aiming for Art College placements. Each week Tom Davies and Andy Pankhurst set up various poses with one to three models with the focus on composition, line, colour, etc. Each course begins with a basic introduction to drawing, setting you up to achieve a level of drawing from the life model. Initially, the evening starts with a number of short poses to allow you to warm up and develop your observations of the subject matter. We are unable to hold Thursday Classes in 2012 and therefore we are going to run two groups on Tuesdays for those who wish to paint from a sustained pose from the outset. One group will be working on the normal program that we apply on Tuesdays and the other group working on the similar program of that of the Thursdays which will give an opportunity for artists to work from the model over several weeks. This practice will be accompanied by talks and examples from art history traditions where artists have reworked pictures over time. The medium will be drawing but different media will be introduced during the weeks. Whatever your level the class will offer new challenges and really make an improvement to your work. Timetable 2013
